Paul Merson

Odds: 250/1

Paul Merson made over 400 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 99 times for the club, but lasted only one season at Highbury following the appointment of Arsene Wenger to replace Bruce Rioch as manager.

The popular midfielder went on to appear for Middlesbrough, Aston Villa and Portsmouth before joining Walsall, where he was thrown into management for the first and only time. Merson enjoyed mixed success before moving into TV work.

Merson is a regular face on Sky Sports, where his main job is as a match reporter for the Soccer Saturday programme. He has gathered a legion of followers due to his interesting turns of phrase and inability to correctly pronounce the names of numerous players.
