Steve McClaren became one of the most derided managers in the history of English football history when, in charge of the national team, he failed to lead a team including the likes of David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and Rio Ferdinand to Euro 2008.
He then rebuilt his reputation abroad by winning the Eredivisie title with FC Twente for the first time in the club’s history. A failed spell with Wolfsburg ended quickly, before an even shorter time with Nottingham Forest was brought to an end.
Another spell in charge at Twente was terminated after only a year, but McClaren is currently enhancing his credentials in England once more as he bids to lead Derby County to the Premier League.
