Manchester City may have been significant spenders since their middle investment, but they have managed to recoup a decent wedge during that time.

Sure, it pales into insignificant when compared to the enormous outlay on player acquisition since 2008, but over €150 million in player sales is a tidy sum. Mario Balotelli was the club’s record sale in this period, fetching over €20 million when he joined AC Milan.

Robinho was sold for slightly less to the same time some three years before, while Carlos Tevez is next in line having joined Juventus in the summer transfer window of last year.
