Genoa’s most sizeable summer of income came in 2009 when the Italian club sold two star players to Inter Milan, with both Diego Milito and Thiago Motta moving to the San Siro.
Inter paid €28 million for the acquisition of Milito and a further €10.2 million for Motta - a double investment that paid immediate dividends as the club clinched a historical treble that season.
Milito scored 30 times in all competitions during his maiden campaign in Milan, including a brace in the Champions League final victory against Bayern Munich at the Santiago Bernabeu.
