Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has received high praise from a man that will be plotting his downfall in the coming days and who sees the Old Trafford man as the perfect example to emulate.
Bayern Munich star Bastian Schweinsteiger claimed Giggs' ability to maintain such a high level so late into his career was "amazing" and something to aim for. However, he believes he can be held in the same regard as the Old Trafford great and players of a similar ilk.
"Can I be compared to Francesco Totti or Ryan Giggs? Yes, absolutely," the 29-year-old told France Football.
"They are two amazing players. At 40 years of age, Giggs is still going on playing at highest level. He is remarkable."
Manchester United are having a torrid time under David Moyes and needed the experience of Giggs to even get the opportunity to be facing Bayern Munich next week. The Red Devils lost the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie 2-0 away at Greek side Olympiacos and were inspired by the Welshman in the return leg, which they won 3-0 to set up the clash at the Allianz Arena.
However, Moyes may be more cautious in picking Giggs for the tie with the reigning European champions as the movement and passing of Pep Guardiola's side will be several levels above that of their opponents in the previous round. Giggs showed great quality on the ball but his legs may not be up to the intense hard work that will be required if Manchester United have any chance of overcoming a stupendous Bayern side.
