Manchester United defender Rafael da Silva has revealed that he's never felt so sad in his life.

The Brazilian full-back, who played the full 90 minutes in the Red Devils' 3-0 defeat to rivals Manchester City last night, took to Instagram to show his disappointment.

It has been a frustrating season for Rafael and Co. with Manchester United currently sitting in seventh place in the Premier League table.

United have now been beaten by Liverpool and City in a matter of weeks at the Theatre of Dreams, but Rafael has promised the Red Devils will return to where they belong.

On the photo that Rafael has uploaded to Instagram, the Brazilian ace said: "Sorry for our fans I never feel so sad in my life but we will came back from where we belong."

The Manchester United players will now have to pick themselves up for the visit of Aston Villa this weekend. David Moyes' side will be desperate to secure all three points against Villa as they look to build momentum ahead of their Champions League quarter-final clash with Bayern Munich next week.

Europe's elite competition appears to be the only thing left for Manchester United to play for this season and the Red Devils will be desperate to secure a positive result against Pep Guardiola's side on April 1.
