John Cena joined forces with The Shield on SmackDown on Tuesday night as they were pitted against The Wyatt Family and Kane in a eight-man tag team battle after Vickie Guerrero had overturned the night’s original match-up.
As reported by WrestlingInc.com, Cena had initially been set to face The Wyatt Family alone after they humiliated him on RAW on Monday, but the sides were evened with the introduction of both The Shield and Kane.
Cena had fought Luke Harper on RAW before an intervention from the rest The Wyatts saw him tied up in the ropes after the lights in the arena had been cut out. But, on SmackDown, Cena got a chance for revenge, and was able to exact it with greater strength in numbers.
The Shield and Cena were both able to hit their finishing moves on their imposing opposition, and it was Roman Reigns who confirmed the win when he was able to get the pin on Luke Harper.
Cena and The Shield then celebrated in the ring with the group’s signature pose, before letting Cena know that he is welcome to join the collective. What next for this plotline as he get closer to the eagerly-awaited Wrestlemania XXX?
