Disgruntled Manchester United fans could be offered the chance to trade in their Old Trafford season tickets for something a little more entertaining, reports suggest.
According to The Daily Mirror, GAME will run an offer on Saturday - decided upon after the Red Devils suffered another embarrassing defeat last night - that will see supporters given the chance to trade in valid season tickets in exchange for a copy of FIFA 14, Football Manager 14 or even the latest edition of Pro Evolution Soccer (remember that?).
The same deal will supposedly be on offer to fans of relegation-threatened Cardiff City and West Brom, while one of the electronic store's outlets in Old Trafford is said to be included in such a controversial and frankly wacky proposal.
Now while offers like this could certainly be considered over the top and even a little ridiculous, you can understand why Manchester United fans in particular may have become just a little frustrated in recent times.
Although the club strolled to their 20th top-flight title last season in what turned out to be the final year of Sir Alex Ferguson's iconic reign, they have struggled woefully throughout the 2013/14 campaign with successor David Moyes rarely demonstrating that he is fully capable of matching or furthering his compatriot's highly-successful legacy.
The emphatic 3-0 defeat suffered at the hands of rivals City last night appeared to firmly dampen hopes that Manchester United's ailing squad may have turned a corner under Moyes, with Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko setting the visitors on their way to an easy win inside the opening minute.
