Three people were arrested in Italy after a mass brawl broke out in an amateur match taking place in Naples.

According to reports in Italy, the police were called in and made the arrests after a match between Giugliano and Volla descended into mass violence between fans. The referee was forced to abandon the match and the Volla players were forced to flee the pitch.

The violence was reportedly sparked by a Giugliano fan attacking a Volla player, leading to recriminations and a number of players and fans getting involved - one fan was using a corning flag as a weapon. Fighting went on for some time behind one of the goals before police were able to calm things down and make the arrests.

Volla's players were forced to stay inside their locked changing room with Giugliano fans waiting out side for them. One of their players suffered a cut to the back of the head, but fortunately there were no serious injuries to be treated.
