Boston Celtic fans would rather see Rajon Rondo on the hardwood but the point guard will be serving as a guest analyst when the Celtics face the Bulls on March 31st.

Working for Comcast SportsNet, Rondo will join Mike Gorman for play-by-play commentary during the first quarter of the contest between the Boston Celtics and the Chicago Bulls.

The news of Rondo becoming a temporary TV analyst comes days after Grantland had published a piece in which they pleaded with injured basketball players to make more appearances on broadcasts, if only for comedic reasons.

The reason we say comedic reasons, is for the reminder of Dirk Nowitzki's brilliant impromptu catchphrase-making cameo.

The Celtics seemed to have listened to Grantland's appeals, Rondo who has a stipulation in his recovery where he cannot play in back-to-back games since knee surgery made himself available for some TV analysis work.

Celtics head coach Brad Stevens also seemed rather pleased with Rondo's cameo appearance as a color analyst on their road trip to Chicago.

Stevens commented on the situation before Boston faced Toronto on Wednesday: "I think it's great, should be good insight; he knows he can’t give too much insight."
