Manchester United blog The Republik of Mancunia has moved to deny links to a controversial anti-David Moyes banner. It had been reported that ROM have raised money to hire a plane with the intention of flying the banner over Old Trafford.
However, this assertion has since been rejected, with the The Republik of Mancunia claiming to have “f**k all” do to with the campaign against Moyes. Given some tweets that followed the initial denial it would appear that banner plans do exist, although they have nothing to do with ROM.
According to Manchester Evening News, the move to fly the banner was actually prompted by discussions in the Red Issue forum, where donations were encouraged to reach the £840 required to hire the aircraft.
The banner will reportedly read “Wrong One – Moyes Out” and will appear over the ground during the next Manchester United home game against Aston Villa this weekend.
Moyes has come under increasing pressure since the trouncing handed out by Manchester City on Tuesday, with some Manchester United supporters trying to storm the dugout to confront the manager following the 3-0 defeat.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor also appears to be struggling behind the scenes, with The Telegraph claiming some players are beginning to seriously question his methods as Manchester United suffer continue to face on-field setbacks.
