Stoke City target Ivica Olic has expressed his desire to avoid joining the Potters after slating their style of play.

The 34-year-old Croatian, who met with Mark Hughes in January, is set to see his contract with current club Wolfsburg expire in the summer.

Pain in the neck Olic was by no means sly in his attempts to undermine Hughes's side - telling the gaffer what he felt in a face-to-face confrontation with the City boss.

As quoted by SkySports, the veteran Bundesliga star, who will undoubtedly attract further interest from Premier League clubs, told Croatian newspaper Jutarnji List:  "When I had a conversation with Mark Hughes I told him 'My neck will hurt with all those long balls you play'."

We imagine that Hughes would have wasted no time in claiming to Olic that his Stoke side are well beyond the 'hoof-and-run' style that they were famed for under former boss Tony Pulis.
