Fights are expected at hockey games.

The site of two men precariously throwing punches at each other while trying to maintain balance on the ice part of the attraction to the sport.

But in the Central Hockey League last night, one St. Charles Chill's player took it to another level.

As the video shows, John Snowden and Matt Stephenson of the Missouri Mavericks got involved during a game last night and Snowden took extreme action as they fought.

Despite surely knowing the camera would be focussed in on their confrontation, Snowden can be seen clearly biting Stephenson on the forearm with his victim left holding his arm in pain when the referees pulled them apart.

Snowden is far from the most famous biter in professional sports however, with Liverpool's soccer star Luis Suarez receiving a retrospective 10-game ban for biting a Chelsea opponent in 2013.

Snowden's punishment was far more lenient with the Chills player given a match penalty on top of the five minute sin bin that he and Stephenson picked up for the fight itself.
