New England Patriots defensive lineman, Vince Wilfork has reportedly signed a three year contract extension with the team according to Ian Rapoport.
NFL.com's Rapoport tweeted today:"Source: #Patriots and Vince Wilfork are closing in on a basic agreement on a contract extension that will keep him in New England."
Wilfork's wife also posted a message from her husband on Instagram where a part of the contract was visible.
The message read: "It's been hard to remain quiet and let things take it's course but it has been the best thing to do... For those who have supported me I thank you. for those who have called me every name in the book I thank you too."
Wilfork has played 10 years for the Patriots and won one Super Bowl championship. He has been nominated to five Pro-Bowls and has been one of the more productive players in the successful Patriot players over the decade.
He has recorded over 400 tackles and 16 sacks in his career, however he missed most of last season after tearing his achilles tendon.
Wilfork's new contract is for $22.5 million with $3 million guaranteed.
