The WWE have released a statement announcing that they have released the original Sin Cara.
Luis Ignacio Urive Alvirde - the man behind the mask - will no longer work in the industry, having been relieved of his duties on Wednesday.
As reported by wrestlinginc.com, the WWE stated: "WWE has come to terms on the release of Luis Ignacio Urive Alvirde effective on March 26, 2014. We wish Luis the best of luck in his future endeavors."
However, according to the examiner, the WWE and the superstar could now be set for a legal battle over his character.
If reports are to be believed, Alvirde and the WWE both claim they own the rights of Sin Cara, but the outcome of the that battle remains to be seen.
For now though, the 'Wrestling Universe' will be gearing up towards WrestleMania. The pay-per-view event, which is set to take place on April 6, looks set to be one of the biggest in the history of the business.
A number of matches have already been confirmed, with Brock Lesnar set to take on The Undertaker and Daniel Bryan set to go one-on-one with Triple H for a place in the main event at the 'Grandest Stage of them All'.
