Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson has been released from the team with immediate effect.
The Eagles star enjoyed a career year last season, catching 82 balls for 1,332 yards and nine touchdowns.
But rumours began circulating this offseason that the Eagles organisation was unhappy with the receiver's work rate. He reportedly missed team meetings in favour of hanging with friends - with concerns also over the company he kept.
Earlier today, NJ.com reported that the Eagles staff were aware of Jackson's relationships with members of the Crips gang in Los Angeles.
The California-native owns a record label, Jaccpot, that has artists on its bill with links to the infamous LA street gang.
And the Eagles became increasingly concerned that Jackson could become a negative influence on the team's younger players.
A source told NJ.com: "They are concerned about having him around the younger players."
A number of NFL teams will look at Jackson as an opportunity to pick up a three-time Pro Bowler for nothing doesn't come around very often.
The New York Jets are thought to be one potential landing point - Jackson remains close friends with former-Eagles quarterback Michael Vick.
Less than an hour after his release by the Eagles, Jackson posted the above video on his Instagram account...
