Florida Panthers Goaltender Roberto Luongo will not feature in the team's game against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night.

Panthers coach Peter Horachek confirmed on Friday that Luongo would miss the game due to the upper-body injury sustained during Florida's game with the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night.

Luongo was hit in the first period of the game but played on until the intermission and didn't re-emerge for the second period.

The collision with Hurricanes Forward Radek Dvorak meant that the Panthers goalie would be forced to leave the game and now must miss the teams game on Saturday.

Luongo gave up one goal in the first period and only faced one shot following the collision as the Hurricanes went on to win the game 3-0.

Luongo was replaced by Dan Ellis who will start in the game with the Canadiens.

The Panthers have also re-called Scott Clemmensen from AHL side the San Antonio Rampage as it is currently unclear when Luongo will return.
