Arsene Wenger’s pursuit of new recruits has led him to Jorginho, with Arsenal reported to have met with the agent of the Napoli midfielder to discuss a proposed move to the Emirates Stadium during the summer transfer window.
Arsenal are seemingly likely to reinforce in midfield positions before the transfer deadline at the end of August and, reports Metro, the club have sounded out the possibility of bring Jorginho to north London from Napoli.
Liverpool and Chelsea have also been linked with the 22-year-old Brazilian but, it would appear, Arsenal have made the first move in the hope of keeping Jorginho from the clutches of their Premier League rivals.
Joao Santos, representative of Jorginho, is reported to have met with Arsenal officials in London last month to gauge the possibility of a move. Arsenal had been linked with a £15 million move for Jorginho in the January transfer window, but Napoli were able to capture him from Verona.
But, despite only two months in Napoli, the player is being linked with yet another transfer as Arsenal consider making a move. Jorginho had previously been touted as a potential long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard, but it remains to be seen if Liverpool decide to enter the race.
