The hotshot Swiss international Josip Drmić has enjoyed a fantastic debut season in Germany after joining Nurnberg from FC Zurich in the summer.

Drmić is an instinctive finisher and is almost Carlos Teves-esque in his hard working, terrier-like approach to his game.

He's scored 16 Bundesliga goals this season, the same amount as Bayern Munich-bound Robert Lewandowski, only Mario Mandzukic has scored more Bundesliga goals this season, bettering Drmić's tally by only one goal.

Lothar Matthaus has revealed on German TV that Arsenal are interested in the 21-year-old, who fits Wenger's striker specification of being able to play up-front alone or in various other positions.

So much so that this season Drmić has been played as a lone striker, behind the striker and on either wings showcasing his versatility.

Matthaus said: "I know for a fact that his wife is looking for a flat in London. I assume that Drmić will finish the season with Nurnberg hopefully successful and Nurnberg will sell him afterwards with a good profit - in this case to Arsenal." said: "Arsenal are believed to be interested in Drmić"

"I know for a fact that his wife is looking for a flat in London. I assume that Drmić will finish the season with Nurnberg hopefully successful and Nurnberg will sell him afterwards with a good profit - in this case to Arsenal."

Drmić would later respond to Matthaus' comments in German newspaper Bild, denying any immediate deal being in place, along with denying he even had a wife to go house searching anyway:

He said: "At the moment, I'm single. There is no one house-hunting in London."

"What will happen in the future, I don't know. Any boy dreams about playing for Arsenal."

Arsenal, however, are not the only team accredited with an interest in Drmić. Both Everton and north London rivals Tottenham have been said to be watching him too.
