As a Barcelona fan, it will be interesting to see if we truly have acquired the services of the Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen to be the replacement for the long standing Victor Valdes. The veteran shot-stopper is set to leave the club at the end of the season, with Manchester City and AS Monaco the two most likely clubs.

But with his signing announcement ever so imminent, one can then turn their attention to the two Madrid teams to make an educated guess as to who they can/will be able to bring in as a long term replacement for their current goalkeepers.

Let’s first start with Real Madrid as they already have goalkeeping options but, let’s face it, Saint Iker has already seen his best days and Diego Lopez isn’t really keeping pace with the standard that was set by Casillas in his prime.

In recent days, one name has been linked with Real Madrid and Manchester United fans won’t really like it. That’s right, David De Gea. In recent sport speculations, it has been said that Real Madrid have De Gea firmly in their sights to be their long term option.

Others have even gone further to say that there is an agreement in place between the two parties. Manchester United will firmly deny this claim and show that they have no intention to sell their No. 1, but it’s fun to think about the possibilities.

Now on to Atletico Madrid, who seems to be down that proverbial creek, stuck with no paddle with their goalkeeping options. Thibaut Courtois, the current 'keeper, is a loanee of the current EPL leaders, Chelsea FC.

So Atletico really has to worry about who they can get to put in goal to keep them in contention with the Clasico team for seasons to come. The most likely option is to purchase Courtois in a swap deal for Diego Costa or to retain him on loan until they the pry him away from Mourinho’s grasp with a deal that doesn’t involve him losing his star striker. The other option is to employ the services of their previous goalkeeper, De Gea, who has always remain a fan of the Rojiblancos.

If the latter is to occur, then the entire football world will be watching attentively to see who could win the three way match of the acquiring his services among Simeone, Ancelloti and Moyes.
