The Indiana Pacers lost for the fifth time in six games as they were defeated by the San Antonio Spurs last night. A bigger problem for the Pacers is that they have now dropped out of the top-seed in the East and the worst news for the Pacers is that Roy Hibbert is slamming the team again.
Hibbert has been critical of the Pacers on a number of occasions during their cold streak which started with a four game losing run at the beginning of March. Last night, as the Miami Heat took control of the conference, Hibbert said that LeBron James and co deserved it.
"Good for them (the Heat),” Hibbert said . “We don’t deserve it. Good for them. Whoever we see in the playoffs, we’ll see, but we’ve got to figure things out…But we don’t deserve the No. 1 seed.”
Hibbert himself struggled against the Spurs, hitting 5-13 from the field and the Pacers as a team managed just 77 points as their offense struggled again. The most concerning stat for Indiana might be that they allowed 103 points with their usual impenetrable defense breached by the Spurs again and again.
The center was critical of his team last week,"Some selfish dudes in here. Some selfish dudes. I'm tired of talking about it. We've been talking about it for a month."
With the playoffs now just a matter of weeks away, it is not impossible for the Pacers to regain the top seed but first, coach Frank Vogel will need to address the unrest within the locker room.
