'Blackfish' car will race again .

Terminally ill Simpsons creator saves race car driver

Published Add your comment

Simpsons creator Sam Simon is well known for having a generous side, and it seems his terminally ill state is making him reach out even more, with a race car driver now the benefactor of his latest give away.

Simon is dealing with terminal colon cancer and he is made a statement of intent to give away quite a lot of his fortune to animal rights causes, but he has also pledged to help driver Leilani Munter race in the Talladega Superspeedway event.

Munter wanted to race in the event but it didn't look good for her as she fell well short of the £$115,000 entry fee, only for Simon to offer to sponsor her for the event.

It seems the name of the car, 'Blackfish', was the thing that caught the eye of Simon the most.

The name is based on a film about animal cruelty, and it acted as one of the main reasons that the creator put the money up for her to enter the big race.

Munter and her 'Blackfish' car will take part in the race on May 3rd, and Simon's name will now go into legendary status not only for his involvement in the Simpsons, but also his generosity in the face of adversity.
