Derek Carr, the former Fresno St. quarterback, has recently had a successful workout with the Cleveland Browns ahead of the NFL Draft, according to CBS Sports.
The quarterback has been touted as a potential first round pick, and with the Browns having the number four choice, there's a chance they will take on Carr. Currently the franchise only have two quarterbacks on the depth chart, Brian Hoyer (who is recovering from ACL surgery) and Alex Tanney, so its almost certain that they will take a quarterback early on.
However, the Browns will also be holding private workouts for Johnny Manziel, Blake Bortles and Teddy Bridgewater, three quarterbacks who many would consider the top three in the draft.
Its been suggested that the Browns are more willing to take Carr over Manziel. Speculation started in February that they hold no interest in Manziel, which was further enhanced by the Browns Head Coach, Mike Pettine.
Pettine said of Carr: "I think he's the best natural thrower as far as arm strength and when you're just looking at the guy, natural thrower in the draft."
For now, Derek Carr is just focused on impressing his potential employers, something he believed he did well during his workout with the Browns on Monday.
He said: “It went so good, everything went great. It went exactly how we wanted it to and now, of course, we just wait till May and see how they're feeling.”
