Angry Michael Schumacher fans have been left outraged after a German magazine published a picture of the F1 ace smiling together with his wife Corinna under the headline 'awake'.
Fans who rushed to buy the women's magazine Die Aktuelle discovered it was simply full of stories of people who had awoken after a coma.
German publisher of the magazine, the Gong-Verlag, have so far declined to comment on the headline and the allegations that it was done purely for commercial reasons.
The anger at the magazine follow reports that Schumacher's wife, Corina ismaking arrangements to build a £10million medical suite to their lavish family home in Lake Geneva, Switzerland, amid fading fears that the seven-time world champion will ever wake up from his medically induced coma.
The family currently make a 150-mile round trip from their Swiss home everyday to visit the 45-year-old in the Grenoble University Hospital in France where he is receiving treatment.
The seven-time world champion has been in a medically induced coma for three months now to reduce brain swelling following a skiing accident where he hit his head on a boulder.
There have been few encouraging signs of recovery and the racing ace has been losing weight rapidly in his hospital bed, losing 25 per cent of his body mass to now only weighing 8st 7lbs.
