Owner of Serie A club Inter Milan Erick Thohir has sent his thanks to Manchester United for making the acquisition of Nemanja Vidic so easy.
After purchasing the San Siro outfit earlier this season, the Indonesian tycoon is set to fund a summer transfer revolution with the aim helping Inter back to the top of European football.
They started that summer recruitment drive with the free signing of Vidic, who opted to sign for Inter Milan instead of renewing his deal with Manchester United.
Vidic was allowed to run in to the final six months of his contract, allowing him to speak with other clubs and to sign a pre-contract agreement. He took up that opportunity and was swayed by the project at Inter Milan.
Vidic will sign a two-year deal with Inter in June and will leave Manchester United after an impressive eight-year spell.
Now the deal has been announced, Thohir felt obliged to thank all parties involved in the deal saying that Manchester United couldn't have made it easier for Inter to sign their captain.
Quoted on talkSPORT, Thohir said: "Vidic is a great champion, one of the strongest defenders in the world.
"I'm extremely pleased with the closing agreement that will take him to Milan.
"His features, his international experience, his charisma as a leader will be key for the team and for the growth of our younger players.
"He'll add value to the club and will be a further step in the construction of a great Inter.
"Id like to thank Manchester United, Nemanja and his entourage for the dedication and professionalism demonstrated during the negotiation."
Manchester United fans were treated to a typically dominant performance from Vidic last night as the Red Devils claimed a 1-1 draw against reigning European champions Bayern Munich.
Vidic put Manchester UNited ahead with a quality header from a corner before Bastian Schweinsteiger equalised. Vidic was an imposing figure at the back despite Bayern's goal and reminded David Moyes that he has a tough job replacing him this summer.
