Pittsburgh Steelers sign Darrius Heyward-Bey

Published 1 Comments

Darrius Heyward-Bey is off to the steel city after a one year stop in Indianapolis.

Heyward-Bey agreed to a one year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who lost both Emmanuel Sanders and Jerricho Cotchery to free agency.

Sanders and Cotchery were second and third in receiving yards for the Steelers last year, and combined for 16 touchdown receptions.

Heyward-Bey had 309 receiving yards and one touchdown with Andre Luck and the Colts last season.

The former Maryland Terrapin was selected in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders with the seventh overall pick, and has never lived up to the lofty expectations.

His career highs came in Oakland in 2011 with 64 receptions for 975 yards.

Heyward-Bey joins former New Orleans Saint Lance Moore as free agent receivers to sign with Pittsburgh this off-season.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
