8. David De Gea

Club: Manchester United

Wage: £3.64 million-per-year

Manchester United made David De Gea the most expensive goalkeeper in Premier League history after signing him for £18.9m from Atletico Madrid in 2011.

The then-20-year-old Spaniard was tipped to be the next great goalkeeper but initially struggled to take a hold of life in the Premier League.

However, he has slowly but surely asserted himself at Old Trafford and continues to impress despite Manchester United's struggles this season.
