Of all the people who could offer their opinion on the well-publicised departure of CM Punk from the WWE, Hulk Hogan is perhaps the most well-respected.

And the legendary wrestler has now added his voice to the thousands calling for Punk to return to the scene, stating that he “would love” it if the disillusioned athlete stages a U-turn on his decision to retire from the organization. Punk’s absence from the WWE has caused a sensational stir ahead of Wrestlemania XXX, and in many ways it has done more for the company publicity wise than anything the man himself could have conjured whilst he was on the books.

However Hogan insists that he would love for Punk to return to the company, and hailed the former World Heavyweight Champion as a “great superstar”.

According to sources in the U.S, Hogan said in an interview: “I don't know why he quit and what the situation was about, but I was really looking forward to meeting the man and getting to know him.

“As far as me, I have a personal opinion on it and I would love for him to come back. If he needs time off whether it was business or personal, it's none of my business. Whatever it was, he was such a great superstar and I would love for him to come back."

Of course there are rumours that Punk WILL be coming back at Wrestlemania. Stone Cold Steve Austin is the latest high-profile individual to back the theory that the whole debacle is a ploy to attract the masses before the 35-year-old makes a shock return on April 6.
