Manchester United and Manchester City will battle it out in the summer to sign Sao Paulo defender Lucas Silva, according to the Daily Mail.
Both Manchester sides are in the market for a new centre-back in the summer as David Moyes and Manuel Pellegrini have identified their respective defences as an area that needs improving.
Premier League champions Manchester United are expected to lose both Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic at the end of the season - with the latter having already agreed to join Serie A outfit Inter Milan.
Manchester City - on the other hand - are on the lookout for a centre-back to partner Citizens captain Vincent Kompany.
The Manchester duo were expected to fight it out to sign a relatively established centre-back such as Eliaquim Mangala or Thomas Vermaelen, however Manchester United and Manchester City are looking to sign Brazilian starlet Silva.
Sao Paulo defender Silva, who is just 17, is the captain of Brazil's Under-17 team.
Silva is capable of playing at both centre-back and right-back which makes him an even more attractive preposition for Europe's top sides.
