Andy Murray couldn't help himself getting involved in the April Fools jokes on Tuesday, as he announced he would name his new coach within 24 hours before it was discovered Britain's No.1 was kidding.

What he will be taking seriously is finding a suitable replacement for Ivan Lendl, someone Murray connected with from the start.

Having a Grand Slam winner proved to be a big factor in winning his first major title - the enthralling 2012 US Open - where he defeated close friend Novak Djokovic.

The man from Dunblane is not one to rest on past achievements, underlined by his focus on fitness in order to close the gap on tennis greats Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

His next step is to build on his two Grand Slam titles and he requires an experienced head at the highest level to assist him in winning more high-profile tournaments.

He could opt to phone Andre Agassi, who won 60 career titles including eight majors.

One of America's finest ever sportsmen, Agassi was one of just seven male players to win all four Grand Slams, something Murray could get close to achieving given his preference of hard courts.

He was close to adding the Australian Open trophy to his cabinet in 2013, and he requires someone of Agassi's knowledge to build on his recent thrilling success.

Djokovic has Boris Becker supporting him, and another option for Murray could be the animated John McEnroe, who had a similar temperament on court when things weren't going so well.
