The season that the Seattle Seahawks begin as the defending champions will also start with a new contract extension for head coach and fan favourite Pete Carroll.
NFL media insider Ian Rapoport revealed the news that Carroll and the Seahawks had reached an agreement on a new deal that will keep the Ex-Trojans coach with the defending Super Bowl champions.
Carroll only had one year left on his previous deal that he had signed for 5 years worth $35 million.
Carroll's exuberant coaching style had endeared him to all players at the Seattle ball club and had reinvigorated a struggling team into true title contenders, culminating in the Franchises first ever Lombardi Trophy last season.
After leaving the college football scene as the USC Trojans head coach, Carroll took the Seahawks hot seat in 2010 and has registered a professional record of 71-57 in the NFL with other stints at franchises such as the New York Jets and New England Patriots.
