Top 10: Star players with one major weakness (8)

Yaya Toure | Laziness

When former Manchester City midfielder Didi Hamann pinned the blame on Yaya Toure for the club’s indifferent defensive record earlier this season, it was met with widespread disbelief. How dare the great Ivorian be questioned!

But the truth is, Hamann made a good point. Toure does, on occasions, become lazy on the pitch and fails to carry out his defensive duties. The 30-year-old sometimes either forgets, or simply can’t be bothered, to track his runners - which subsequently leaves his team exposed.

We all know Toure’s strengths - and there are plenty of them - but he needs to work harder on his defensive side of the game. The reason he has scored 21 goals this season is thanks largely to his midfield partner Fernandinho, who is quite happy to carry out the donkey work in middle of the pitch.
