Chelsea are in desperate need of a response against Stoke after their humbling at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.

The Blues went into their tie with the Ligue 1 giants as slight favourites - but now have a mountain to climb if they are to make it to the last four of the tournament following their 3-1 defeat.

However before that they must get three points against the Potters tomorrow - Jose Mourinho may have insisted that his team are out of the title race after their defeat against Crystal Palace last weekend, but the fact their rivals play each other in the coming weeks means there could be space for the Blues to put themselves back in the mix.

It's not always plain sailing after a European mid-week fixture of course - indeed the best the Premier League have to offer have had mixed fortunes when returning to Premier League action after taking on the best of the continent.
