Arsenal have been linked with a number of players over the summer, Diego Costa and Julian Draxler being the best amongst them. So, out of these transfer targets, who can we expect to arrive the Emirates this Summer?
Diego Costa - Atletico Madrid - (£30-£32m release clause, valuation £31m)
The Brazilian striker (currently playing for Spain) has scored 33 goals in all competitions this season, and with a release clause of around £30-£32 million, Costa would be bought by most managers. But, with the exception of Mesut Ozil, Arsene Wenger does not normally spend huge amounts of money on players. It's obvious that he would solve their striking problems; a world class striker could make Arsenal the perfect team, but I just can't see Wenger spending that much on a player after only one exceptional season.
Seamus Coleman - Everton - (£15m valuation)
With Bacary Sagna seemingly on the way out, Coleman is valued at around £9m. It's possible that Roberto Martinez values him higher than that, but any fee close to that sum is a bargain for the best right back in Britain.
Julian Draxler - Schalke - (£37m release clause, £27m valuation)
Draxler, whilst being a really promising youngster (and already a capped German international), was not signed in the January for a reason; money. Valued at £27 million, Draxler will only be discharged for a fee of £37 million pounds. Now it is more than a little rash for Wenger to sign a 20 year old for such a massive sum of money, which he would be reluctant to pay anyway. I cannot see this one happening.
Hakan Calhanoglu - Hamburg - (£7m valuation)
A fine passer and a dead ball specialist (as he famously showed with a Goal of the Year contender against Dortmund), Calhanoglu is real prospect. Although he may face competition for that number 10 role that he prefers, he is available for a cheap price and is one of the most promising youngsters on the planet. If Arsenal sign him he may well be the signing of the season.
Alexandre Lacazette - Lyon - (£10m valuation)
Lacazette is clearly a wonderful player; superb at dribbling, fantastic at skills and reliable in front of goal. However, with Liverpool competing for his signing, Arsenal may have to fight for him. Lacazette has also expressed his desire to join Juventus, meaning it may not be easy to sign him.
Verdict: ATTEMPTED HIT BUT PROBABLE MISS
