The Divas matches at Wrestlemania have mattered less and less over the years, gone are the days of Trish Stratus v Jazz v Victoria in technically thrilling matches to be replaced by Santino Marella dressing up as a woman to win the title of Miss Wrestlemania or evening gown matches that don't showcase a lot of in-ring skills.
The female matches are now thought to only be on the card to split up the two main events and to allow the usual “fag break” before the final part of the show.
Last year there was no divas match, it was cancelled because of time constraints and people hardly even noticed, but after all the hype surrounding Total Divas second season and the rivalry bubbling between AJ and Tamina there is hope that finally this match might deliver.
Every diva currently on the WWE roster is involved in the Vickie Guerrero invitational divas battle royal tomorrow night and it will see all of them in the ring at the same time with just being one fall to the finish. This almost guarantees AJ Lee's title will change hands and also allows some seeds to be planted for future feuds between the females.
Natalya hasn't held the divas title for over three years and being the veteran amongst many young divas has seen her turn her hand to training the next generation. Nattie has been the most consistent diva on the roster for a long time, she doesn't mind putting over up and coming divas and is always solid in the ring.
The 30-year-old is the daughter of Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart and the niece of Bret Hart, as well as being the first third-generation female wrestler in the world. She has been trained by the best and you can tell from her in-ring work how much better she could be if given the chance.
If anyone of the Total Divas were to take on the title it should be Natalya. Nikki and Brie are improving in the ring as of late and did win Divas of the Year last year but I still feel like it’s too soon to drop the title over to them.
Natalya has been biding her time and waiting for her shot and I think the fast paced nature of tomorrow’s match and the fact that she could pin anyone to win will benefit her more and hopefully the last remaining representative from the Hart family will have gold around her waist at the end of the night.
