Jose Mourinho is alleged to have labelled his Real Madrid squad 'sons of bitches' and accused them of betraying him during his time in charge at the Bernabeu.

Mourinho's tempestuous three-year spell in Spain was bought to an end last year after defeat against Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey final - following a season of unrest in the Madrid dressing room.

In his explosive book The Special One: The Dark Side Of José Mourinho, which is due for release in the UK later this week and has been serialised by the Times, Spanish journalist Diego Torres claims to have revealed some of the details of the Special One's darkest days at the Bernabeu.

According to Torres' book, Mourinho had grown increasingly paranoid leading up to Real Madrid's game against Barcelona in April 2011, and had ordered the team hotel to be swept for bugs after a string of media leaks from within the club.

After nothing turned up, the Chelsea boss is alleged to have then asked directors to monitor his player's phones and those of club employees to find out where the information was coming from. Torres then claims that some Real Madrid players were 'informally' warned about Mourinho's actions.

In the build up to the game, Spanish newspaper Marca correctly predicted the Real Madrid line-up for the Clasico. The two teams played out a 1-1 draw that helped Barcelona on their way to the league title.

After the game, the current Chelsea manager is alleged to have screamed as their players: “You’re traitors. I asked you not to speak with anyone about the team selection but you’ve betrayed me. It shows that you’re not on my side. You’re sons of bitches.

“The only friend I have in this dressing room is Granero . . . and I’m not even sure that I can trust him any more. You’ve left me all on my own. You’re the most treacherous squad I’ve had in my life. Nothing more than sons of bitches.”

The book continues: "[Iker] Casillas did not wait for the outburst to finish. He pretended that nothing was happening, turned around and went to the shower; he was not the only one who ignored the commotion. But Mourinho was filled with such intense emotion that he grabbed a can of Red Bull and hurled it against the wall. It exploded and drops of the sugary energy drink ran down the faces of those nearest to him.

"Squatting on the ground — some say he was kneeling — he rattled off a further series of insults, then, getting up, he wiped the tears from his face and announced that he was going to speak with Pérez [Real’s president] and Sánchez [a director] because they would be able to find the mole. He promised reprisals and also made an analogy between martial law and football: 'If I’m in Vietnam and I see you laugh at a mate, I’d grab a gun with my own hands and kill you. Now it’s you yourselves who have to look for the one that leaked the line-up.'"

Despite the alleged outburst, Mourinho went on to guide Real Madrid to victory Copa del Rey final against Barcelona later that season, and broke their rivals dominance by winning the league the following season.

The Portuguese returned for his second spell in charge of Chelsea in 2013 after leaving Real Madrid.
