Pele has launched his first mobile gaming app, 'Pele: King of Football', at an intimate event in New York.
The Brazilian legend was joined by the game's creators, Cosi Productions, to discuss the application during a Q&A session with Georgie Thompson at the Apple store in Soho.
And, the opportunity to share some of his career achievements through a new medium was one the former Santos and New York Cosmos star could not turn down.
“This is an entertaining new way to connect with my fans, especially the younger generation of football fans who never got to see me play," he said at the event.
"I look forward to sharing my life and career experiences in an interactive way with users of this app, and meeting some lucky winners one day."
Those winners can claim signed balls and shirts, tickets to the World Cup final and even the chance to meet the man himself in Brazil.
Other unique features on offer include 'the Pele blitz', when users can play other members of the public in online competitions, and over 800 goals and challenges to get your teeth into.
Quite notably, the game is free to download, and is the first of its kind to work in a biographical way. Players are invited to follow in the great man's footsteps, starting on the streets of Brazil and working their way to the top of the game.
Users can also watch previously unseen videos of Pele in 'the Vault', and use 'flick-to-shoot' throughout to complete the levels.
"We took our love of gaming and sport and combined them to bring an entirely new fan experience to mobile gaming - giving fans the only chance to take on football legend Pelé," said Josh Blitz and Kane Swerner, Co-Founders of Cosi Productions, in a press release sent to GiveMeSport.
"Pelé - King of Football is the first of its kind offering amazing real-life rewards and a visually immersive experience - which we see as the way forward for mobile gaming."
The free app is available for download via the Apple App Store and Google Play.
