The father of William Carvalho has sent a heartfelt message to his son on his 22nd birthday, telling him to reject interest from Manchester United.
Carvalho has earned rave reviews for his performances at Sporting Lisbon this season as he continues to dominate games from the centre of midfield.
His performances have led to comparisons with Patrick Vieira and also attracted the attention of the Premier League champions.
Manchester United manager David Moyes has sent scouts to Lisbon countless times this season to run the rule over the young midfielder.
According to the Daily Mirror. Moyes has been so impressed with the scouting reports that he has already agreed to pay the full £37m for Carvalho, meeting the release clause in his contract, to sign him before the World Cup.
But if Carvalho's father has his way, the young midfield star won't be plying his trade at Old Trafford next season but in La Liga.
Speaking to A Bola, father Simão said: "I know you were born to win, but you must continue to push hard to get to the top. And to continue to respect everybody. The best is yet to come. I wish you all the luck in the world."
When asked where he wants Carvalho to move, he said: "I'd like to see him in Spain."
Obviously Carvalho's father does not have the final say on his future but it is just enough reason for the 22-year-old to reject Moyes' advances.
Although Manchester United remain one of the biggest clubs in the world, in all likelihood there will be no Champions League football at Old Trafford next season.
The Red Devils also face an uncertain future under Moyes. Following Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement, many predicted a demise similar to the one Liverpool have suffered in the Premier League era. Currently sitting sixth, those fears have been justified so far.
