The final chapter of the cinderella story that is the UConn Huskies' run to the NCAA Championship game will be written tonight when they face Kentucky.
And the impressive performances of the Huskies have catapulted head coach Kevin Ollie into the running for the LA Lakers job, reports suggest.
So impressed have some been with the second-year coach that support has increased for the 41-year old to fill the potential opening at the LA Lakers.
Mike D'Antoni is seemingly heading for the exit door at the NBA franchise in the summer after a disastrous year, and took a step closer when his team suffered another humbling defeat to city rivals the Clippers.
A day before as Griffin and co were teaching the Lakers a lesson, Ollie was leading his young men past Florida in the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament.
And as his stock begins to rise, people are beginning to seek reasons for the Lakers to take a punt on the second-year coach.
One reason, other than Ollie's impressive two-year spell at his alma mater, that people seem to suggest he would be a good fit for the LA franchise is his links with MVP wannabe Kevin Durant.
Ollie and KD spent a year playing together in Oklahoma in 2010 and the 13-year veteran left a lasting impression on a young Durant - so much so that some feel that he could entice the superstar to a move to the Lakers in 2016 when his current deal runs out:
"Kevin Ollie, he was a game-changer for us," Durant said at the 2014 All-Star Weekend.
"His mind-set, his professionalism every single day. And we all watched that. We all wanted to be like that."
The Lakers are undoubtedly looking to bring in a marquee name with Kobe heading slowly towards the end of his glittering NBA career, but surely 2016 would be too long to wait?
They have been linked with trying to bring Kevin Love to the franchise in 2015 free agency and that remains the likely period in which the Lakers will look to do business.
But if the Lakers do come calling and Ollie does end up swapping NCAA basketball for a taste of the NBA with this summer you can expect the rumors linking Durant to California to intensify.
