MVP’s short lived control of TNA will be under pressure, when Dixie Carter returns to TNA Wrestling next week.
She confirmed her return on Twitter this week, citing that next week’s edition of TNA IMPACT would bring with it the ‘Wrath of Dixie’.
Carter has not been seen in TNA since the Lockdown pay-per-view last month, when her team of Bobby Roode, Austin Aries and the Bro Mans lost the Lethal Lockdown match to MVP, Willow and the Wolves – with control of wrestling operations at stake.
The popularity of the TNA owner has plummeted following her heel turn, when she feuded with company legend AJ Styles and the iconic Hulk Hogan. Carter stripped Styles of the World Heavyweight Title he won from Bully Ray at Bound for Glory, ensuring he was removed from TNA soon after, while Hogan quit the company in protest.
She then arranged for a World Heavyweight Title tournament to determine the next World Champion. After attempting, and failing, to bribe Jeff Hardy, Dixie decided on Magnus as her 'paper' champion – ensuring his victory in the tournament with the interference of her nephew Ethan Carter III and her Chief of Staff Rockstar Spud.
From that point on she employed any means necessary to help Magnus retain his title. Virtually the entire heel roster came to the Brit’s aid in his title unification match with AJ Styles, while Bobby Roode’s interference helped her end the TNA career of the Icon, Sting.
But she was caught out by the impact of MVP, who bought shares in the company before revealing himself as the mystery investor during TNA's UK Tour. After declining Dixie’s invitation to ‘buy him out’, he made the proposition of the Lethal Lockdown match.
She attempted to bring in Bully Ray as an ‘insurance policy’ to ensure her victory, but Ray turned face to help MVP and his team to victory – attacking Dixie’s team captain Roode.
MVP’s victory reduced Dixie to a solely back office role, meaning she had no say on in-ring decisions or match pairings within TNA. Unable to rely on her protection, her champion Magnus sought a new partnership with the Monster Abyss, who has helped him to retain the World Title three times, starting at Lockdown.
MVP, Bully Ray and Jeff Hardy – or Willow as he is now known – are all likely to be at the front of the queue – as Dixie seeks her revenge next week.
