Wide receiver, Jason Avant, has signed a one-year contract with the Carolina Panthers.
The 30-year old was released from the Philadelphia Eagles last month, after the Eagles tied up the contracts of Riley Cooper and Jeremy Maclin.
The Panthers have been busy in the free agency market, adding another wide receiver - Jerricho Cotchery - to fill the gap left by the prolific Steve Smith, they have also added Tiquan Underwood from Tampa Bay.
Head coach Ron Rivera has said: ""We are happy to have Jason with the Panthers, he provides a versatile player at receiver and brings good size as well as experience to the position."
The Panthers are still lacking a clear cut number one receiver, and they are expected to use one of there top draft picks, on a wide receiver.
Avant will have more of a supporting role in the upcoming season, doing a similar job to the recently signed Cotchery, but they will be wanting a receiver to carry the aerial attack if they are to be competitive this year.
