When Tim Sherwood slapped a £100million price-tag on the head of Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris at the weekend, aside from the side-splitting laughter that followed, his ludicrous valuation also prompted a debate at GiveMeSport HQ as we attempted to determine which players - in the Premier League or elsewhere - would actually be worth a nine-figure fee.
With Spurs set to miss out on Champions League qualification again this year, recent speculation has suggested that Lloris could be poised for a move away from north London, as a host of top European clubs prepare moves for the France international in the summer.
"He is one of the best keepers around," Sherwood was quoted saying by Sky Sports on Sunday. "Of course, people are going to want him. But I'm also sure the club won't be tempted to get rid of him.
"He is one of the top goalies and unless someone is going to spend £100million on him - and keepers do not get bought for that money - I don't think he will leave."
Sherwood's overstated 'hands-off' warning towards the 27-year-old's suitors might have stimulated a few sarcastic responses, but it does pose the question which footballers could cost in excess of £100million.
On the assumption that the Spurs boss was indeed joking about the size of bid it would take to entice the France international from White Hart Lane, we've decided to omit Lloris from the exclusive list of world-leading stars that could realistically break that barrier if sold in the summer.
