Manchester United will rival Arsenal in the race to sign Lyon midfielder Maxime Gonalons this summer, according to talkSPORT.
If reports are to be believed, the Premier League duo will also have to battle it out with Serie A outfit Napoli for the player's signature.
Gonalons, who is a French international, has had a fine season at the Ligue 1 outfit despite the club sitting in fifth place in France's elite division.
It had previously been reported that the 25-year-old was set to join Rafa Benitez's side in January, but the door could now be open for him to make a Premier League switch.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been linked with the midfield ace for some time, but now looks set to face competition from Manchester United.
The Red Devils are certainly in need of midfield reinforcements after a tricky campaign which has seen them slump to seventh place in the league.
For now though, the Manchester United boss' immediate focus will turn to his side's Champions League quarter-final second leg clash with European champions Bayern Munich tomorrow night.
