Wow...WrestleMania XXX was immense, but The Raw after Mania was just as good.
No Sting, no CM Punk and no Undertaker farewell speech, but still the WWE delivered the goods just when we all thought they couldn’t out do themselves.
We had two debut’s as NXT stars Alexander Rusev and Paige made the step up, whilst Rusev’s debut was just as dominant as expected. Paige pinned the Divas Champion and now holds the only two women’s belts in WWE, the first woman in history to do this.
As if the people of Britain didn’t have enough to dance about, Bad New Barrett then made his in-ring debut under this new persona and completely dominated Rey Mysterio. The strange part of the whole match was that the fans were actually cheering for Barrett over fan favourite Mysterio.
Rob Van Dam made his long awaited return to the ring as he saw off Damien Sandow and the crowd chanted "you still got it" at the man that never seems to age.
After all of this excitement, we thought that Hogan was just out for a little light relief as he came out to give Cesaro the Andre the Giant trophy but no. Another bomb shell was dropped last night as Cesaro announced he was in fact a Paul Heyman guy, so now Brock can continue being part time and we will still continue to have the brilliance that is Paul Heyman on our screens every week!
Cesaro then fought with his old tag partner Swagger as the final nail was hammered into the coffin in the demise of the The Real Americans.
As if this wasn’t enough excitement for one night, everyone then thought that much like the Raw after Night of Champions, Triple H would take the title away from Bryan. It looked like this was the way it was going to be as the title match happened and Batista. Orton and Kane made their alliances clear. Triple H was going for the pin when suddenly the Hounds of Justice, true to their name became fully fledged faces as Roman Reigns hit what is being referred to as “the spear heard around the world” on Triple H before seemingly joining Daniel Bryan’s rage against the machine.
Backstage Kane had inadvertently told the trio that Triple H set up the ambush on Smackdown that they suffered last month, so before we get ahead of ourselves and start dreaming of Daniel Bryan becoming a member of The Shield, we should remind ourselves that The Shield were only getting revenge and they only care about themselves with their split looming, even though they are looking stronger than ever.
The “you deserve it” chants after Bryan thanked the crowd brought a tear to the eye! The build-up to Extreme Rules in just three weeks has begun. You thought WrestleMania had it all. I will be the first to say I didn’t think WWE would deliver last night. But somehow they did. Well played WWE...well played indeed.
