Adnan Januzaj plays for Manchester United. Adnan Januzaj does not play for Liverpool. And, if you don’t know that, then you probably shouldn’t be working in the shirt printing department of a sports shop.
However, it would appear the vetting process in one particular brach of Sports Direct is not stringent enough, after a Liverpool shirt was emblazoned with the name and number of the Manchester United teenager appeared for sale.
A video has been doing the rounds on social media showing a fan picking up a Liverpool home kit from the clothing rail in said shop, and all initially appears to be in order. But, as the shirt is turned to show the back, the grave error soon becomes apparent.
Instead of the kit bearing the name of the likes of Luis Suarez or Steven Gerrard, it is actually printed with ‘Januzaj 44’ - an inexcusable mistake, particular given the depth of ill feeling between the supporters of Liverpool and Manchester United.
Or, perhaps, it was nothing more than a practical joke. Having said that, we can’t quite work out who it would be more of a joke on. Would a Liverpool fan be having a pop at Manchester United, claiming Januzaj should be playing for the Premier League leaders? Or is a Manchester United support suggesting Liverpool could only dream of having Januzaj? We’ll let you decide that one.
