Last night on Raw Triple H hinted that when he, Randy Orton and Batista are on the same page they are unbeatable, leading to rumours of an Evolution reunion.
This was before The Shield found out that Triple H was the one who set them up last month on Smackdown however, when they were attacked by four different tag teams, which this essentially set up their Wrestlemania match with Kane and The New Age Outlaws.
Depending on who now comes forward to challenge Daniel Bryan for his WWE World Heavyweight Championship, it seems the idea has been pitched for Evolution and The Shield to meet in stipulation match at next month’s Extreme Rules.
Evolution used to comprise of four members but now that Ric Flair is retired it seems he will not be making a return. But DX reunited without their key members back in 2006 and were still referred to as Degeneration X, so WWE could hold an Evolution reunion without Flair.
That being said, the 16-time world champion could make a return to be a part of the group, just not an in-ring return as he is not needed for them, going up against the trio of The Shield.
It remains to be seen if the reunion is just for Extreme Rules or if this feud will continue throughout the summer and possibly at “the biggest party of the summer” Summerslam.
Evolution were one of the most dominant stables in WWE History just over a decade ago, and would be the perfect pick to stop the current most dominant stable. A loss to them could also allow The Shield to begin their break up as Roman Reigns looks set for a successful singles run.
