We all know the World Cup is a stage incomparable to any other. Specifically designed for the greatest players from the greatest countries to demonstrate their skills to the largest audience of any footballing event.
FIFA estimated 909.6 million people tuned in to the 2010 World Cup final worldwide just eclipsing the Olympic opening ceremony! In other words, there is no better place to become one of the games' biggest names.
But just because the World Cup is watched for the Lionel Messi's and Cristiano Ronaldo's of the game, it does not mean the less illustrious players can not create a show of their own. Previous tournaments have shown that often it is these less notorious footballers who make the World Cup such a popular event.
The 2010 South Africa World Cup brought about the rise in fame of Keisuke Honda, Mesut Özil and Alexis Sanchez. Not only did they create talking points across the World but also created a legacy for themselves, all three of these players played Champions League football this season.
There will certainly be some new kids on the block after this summer but who will they be? Unfortunately we have no idea who will perform and who will flop but here are 10 players to watch...
