There's no doubt about it, Toni Kroos would prove an excellent signing for Manchester United.
The German midfielder is everything David Moyes needs. He's intelligent, can pick a pass and dominate football matches from a central position. He's the type of player the Red Devils have been missing in recent years it's no surprise that United have been linked with a club record bid of £40 million for his services.
However, Moyes and the United hierarchy must be very careful indeed. Last summer, the Red Devils made Cesc Fabregas their No.1 target after suggestions were made that he was keen on a move to the Theatre of Dreams.
It appeared that the Red Devils put all their time and effort in trying to bring the superstar midfielder to the club. However, a move failed to materialise and United instead signed Marouane Fellaini on deadline day. And, despite it appearing that Fabregas was interested in a move to the Premier League champions, was he ever really going to sign for the club?
Now, with another summer approaching, rumours are suggesting that United will look to bring Kroos to the club. And already - even with the transfer window currently shut - similarities can be made between the saga of last year and the potential saga of this year.
Once again, United have been tipped to make a club record fee for a superstar plying his trade at one of the top clubs in European football. And like Fabregas playing in his home country, Kroos is too, so will he really fancy a move abroad?
Unsurprisingly, there have been rumours that he wants a move to Manchester United, but with the club set to miss out on Champions League football for next season, will he really look to take a step down in his career?
Kroos is certainly worth tracking, but United can't afford to spend their whole summer trying to bring him to Old Trafford. They must have other targets in sight and they should try and get most of their business done before the start of the summer's World Cup.
Manchester United paid the ultimate price hanging around last summer and they must move forward quickly at the end of the season.
Kroos would be an excellent signing for Moyes, but is he a realistic one?
