The 2015 NFL Pro Bowl will not take place in Hawaii, the NFL have confirmed.

Next season's all-star game has been moved the league to Arizona for a one year hiatus away from it's tropical home.

Every year since 1980 the end of season event has taken place at the Aloha Stadium, Honolulu , except in 2009-10 when the game was shifted to Florida.

And it looks like the island population will have to live with another year away from pro league football after Wednesday's decision was revealed by CBS Sports reporter Jason La Canfora.

Follwoing the 2014 season the Pro Bowl will take place at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona.

The Arizona venue is also set to host next year's Super Bowl XLIX a week after the Pro Bowl game.

As yet there is no official word on why the game has been moved from it's traditional home, but the NFL has stated that they will return to Hawaii in 2016.
