Having had his streak ended by Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX, The Undertaker is sure to retire sometime in the not so distant future. But when he does, how will WWE fill the void his streak will leave?
WWE if they are not already, should without question be looking into creating something similar to the streak, given that is was and still is, the best part of WrestleMania for many people.
A new streak though could not be identical to the Undertaker's. Given that his record spanned across a staggering 12 years, to give someone else the opportunity of holding one for a similar amount of time would detract from The Dead Man's achievement.
The streak is not something which should be shared by another superstar, but recreated in a different way in homage to The Undertaker once he stops wrestling.
Perhaps the most likely candidate of having such an honour would be a member of The Shield, who at present are 2-0 at WrestleMania having defeated Sheamus, Big Show and Randy Orton last year as well as Kane and the New Age Outlaws last Sunday.
The leading contender from The Shield would most likely be Roman Reigns. Reigns currently holds a 5-0 record as well as holding the joint record for the most eliminations in a Survival Series match in addition to having eliminated the highest number of people in a single Royal Rumble.
Should he go into his next WrestleMania with a 5-0 or an even higher undefeated figure, it would enable Reigns to be on his way to a sort of mini-streak. This would undoubtedly enhance his character's position without touching the historic streak of the Undertaker.
Another member of The Shield who could be in with a chance of having some form of streak is Seth Rollins.
Rollins has become more of a pronounced character in The Shield stable of late, most notably demonstrated when he walked out on fellow members Reigns and Dean Ambrose during a match against The Wyatt Family on an episode of Monday Night Raw in March.
Both of these wrestlers are in their twenties so potentially have a whole decade at least ahead of them in WWE, which will no doubt see them become the basis of several interesting story lines.
Ultimately this may never even come about, but with the great unpredictability of WWE stories, a WrestleMania with a mini streak in it sounds a lot more appealing than one without The Undertaker or any kind of record.
